Our Principals
S. Tim Smith, P.E.
PRESIDENT | PRINCIPAL ENGINEERWith over 45 years of engineering experience, Tim Smith leads the firm’s engineering and litigation consulting practice. A licensed Professional Engineer and Texas A&M Petroleum Engineering graduate, Tim started his career with Getty Oil, where he held positions in operations engineering, reservoir engineering and evaluation engineering.
He went on to serve as:
President & Director, Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE)
Chairman, SPEE Reserves Definitions Committee
Vice-Chair, United Nations Expert Group on Resource Classification
Tim became a member of the professional practice and client advisory team at Don Ray George & Associates in 1984. He helped shape industry definitions and standards in petroleum reserves and resource evaluation, and led successful legislative action for SPEE and the oil and gas evaluation community. He has advised state attorneys general and served as a Special Master to both state and federal courts. Clients trust Tim for his technical precision, integrity, attention to detail, and sound advice, as well as his ability to make complex technical information accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.

FOUNDER (RETIRED) | LEGACY PRINCIPALDon Ray founded the firm in 1976 after a successful engineering tenure at Chevron USA. Don Ray built the firm’s reputation on engineering expertise and integrity.

SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN & REGULATORY ASSOCIATEFor over 30 years, Greg has been an invaluable member of the Don Ray George & Associates team supporting the firm and clients with all aspects of engineering technician and regulatory services including research and data analytics, data management, petroleum economic software support, regulatory permitting and compliance analyses.
